The Clubhouse Expansion Project was recently discussed at Beaver Valley Ski Club’s 59th Annual Meeting of Members, including a review of member feedback and next steps.
Results from the most recent Member Survey indicate that a majority of members agree an expansion is needed to replace the existing North Tent. However, concerns remain regarding the overall project cost, with strong support for exploring lower-cost alternatives and reducing the size and scope of the proposed expansion.
Moving forward, the Board of Directors and Management Team will continue working with existing committees to develop multiple expansion options, including reduced-scope and lower-cost solutions, while maintaining existing facilities. 1. Ongoing Maintenance & Repairs - immediate & near term focus Continue addressing existing building needs while prioritizing work that would not be addressed in an expansion. 2. Develop Expansion Options - planning & scoping Develop additional options for an expansion of the northwest end of the Main Clubhouse using the Spring 2026 proposal as the "high end" for requirements and use member feedback to identify 2 to 3 lower cost options with rough budgets. Continue committee engagement. 3. Member Preferences & Approval - governance & vote Get member feedback options through discussions and a survey during the 2026/27 season. Develop a formal proposal with a budget and funding based on members' preferred option and seek member approval to proceed by the end of 2027.
Throughout the upcoming winter season, the Board will host smaller feedback sessions of 10–20 members to gather additional input. Updated expansion options, along with financial scenarios, will be presented to members, with the goal of bringing options forward for a member vote by the end of the 2026/27 season.
The Board remains committed to incorporating member feedback and identifying a financially responsible solution that meets the Club’s long-term needs.
Thank you to Members for the high engagement in Stage 1 of the Clubhouse Expansion project. A record 62% of eligible Members voted and over 150 Members attended the Special Meeting on Sunday. Members were asked to approve Stage 2 of the Clubhouse Expansion project which would allow us to work with the consultants to respond to member feedback on the design and cost, and develop a detailed design and Class B cost estimate for an expansion.
There were 255 votes in favour of the resolution and 272 against. As a result, the resolution did not pass.
The Board will proceed to issue a member survey in the coming days to obtain more insight into member perspectives on the needs, design and cost and take some time to review the results and consider next steps.
